May 4: North Braddock Community & Wellness Event
North Braddock Community Health & Wellness Event
April 30, 2013 | North Braddock, PA
The rising concern of life-threatening illnesses is one of the many reasons the North Braddock Community Health & Wellness Event was created, said LeShawn James, a Carnegie Mellon University graduate student and one of the organizers of the event.
“North Braddock is an accurate portrait of the devastating health profile of many small towns in America– people are suffering from life-threatening ailments, people are not living healthy lifestyles, and some people cannot afford to receive the proper care they deserve,” James said.
The North Braddock Community Health & Wellness Event is a free event open to the public that will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Jesus Dwelling Place, 408 Lobinger Street, North Braddock, PA 15104. The event starts at 12:00 p.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m.
At the event, attendees can receive a free health screening, a blood pressure check, and games and activities will be provided for children.
“The idea of the event was simply to provide people with an action plan they can implement to live healthier. Hopefully, this one-day event can help people change and improve their lifestyles,” James said.
Partners for the event include: UPMC Health Plan My Plan, Family Care Connection of Braddock, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, and Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College.
