Small Seeds' 5th Annual Signature Event at Le Mont Restaurant

For the past 15 years, East Liberty non-profit Small Seeds Development, Inc. has worked tirelessly, and often quietly, to address issues facing families in the Greater Pittsburgh area. Issues of single parent households, child safety, youth leadership development, financial literacy, health and wellness are issues that the staff and leadership of Small Seeds is addressing. The Signature Event celebrates the efforts of other community leaders and reviews the outcomes of services provided by Small Seeds. Small Seeds is hosting its 5th annual Signature Event on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at Le Mont Restaurant in Pittsburgh’s Mount Washington neighborhood. The event will end at 9:00 p.m. Business attire is required and media personnel are encouraged to attend this event. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased by contacting Small Seeds directly.

The theme for this year’s event is “Families in Motion,” and Small Seeds Chief Executive Officer Andrew Cheeseboro said, “To solve any problem you must take ownership of it and look at those people who are closest to you, which many times is your family. Families need to be in motion to move forward and progress together.” He also noted that families regardless of status face barriers and challenges.

This special event will observe and celebrate the impact of Small Seeds services and models and will recognize leaders:

•         Carmen A. Anderson – Senior Program Officer at The Heinz Endowments

•         Honorable Kim Berkeley Clark – Administrative Judge – Family Division – Court of Common

Pleas of Allegheny County

•         Chaz Kellem – Manager of Diversity Initiatives – Pittsburgh Pirates

•         Dr. Howard B. Slaughter, Jr. – Chairman, Bank On Greater Pittsburgh, Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh

•         Rev. Michael D. Wurschmidt – Founder and current Pastor of Shepherd’s Heart Fellowship and the Executive Director of Shepherd’s Heart Veterans’ Home

The Mistresses of Ceremonies are Brenda J. Waters, reporter and anchor for KDKA/WPCW-TV and Sonya M. Toler, public information officer for the City of Pittsburgh.
